Status of OFX Support in Fortora Fresh Finance for Mac/Windows

Fortora Fresh Finance for Mac, Fortora Fresh Finance for Windows, Miscellaneous — George I. Ashkar - August 11, 2008 10:28 am

As some of you may know, we have been working on implementing OFX support in our products for some time now. For those of you who don’t know, OFX stands for Open Financial Exchange, and is a format used by many banks for downloading transactions to financial software. Currently our products support QIF, which is fine in many cases, but some banks don’t support QIF. Plus, OFX is a more advanced standard, and allows direct connecting to your bank and automatically downloading transactions (instead of the manual export/import process used by QIF).

I just want to reassure our valued customers that we are working hard on adding OFX to our products, and it will be available very soon. Please let me know if you have any comments, thanks!

Plans for the next version of Fortora Fresh Finance for Mac/Windows

On the heels of the 1.1.1 release, we are now working on the next version (tentatively called version 1.1.2), which should be out sometime within the next month. This version will concentrate on improving the import facilities of the product, and expected enhancements are:

1) The ability to import QIF files from other financial packages such as Quicken. This means you will finally be able to automatically migrate your data from your old financial software into Fortora Fresh Finance. This feature has been frequently requested, and is one of the reasons why many people have not switched to Fortora Fresh Finance yet.

2) An improved web import feature that will allow you to automatically specify categories for imported transactions. You will also be able to automatically cleanup your payees (for example, changing “CHEVRON 04/29 CARD PURCHASE #XXX BELLFLOWER, CA” to “Chevron”).

So those are the plans, however they aren’t concrete and things may change (as this is the software business after all). I will keep you guys posted on any further changes. As always, please let me know if you have any comments. Have a great week!
